Church Restoration Update:  By now most of the work has been completed.  Over the past week or two the new sound system and lighting systems have been completed, most of the stencilling has been finished.  During the coming weeks the new flooring will be laid, the remaining stencilling and timber work will be finished.  Once these are finished the final bits and pieces on the sanctuary will be done, which will include the new Tabernacle which was specially made.  The opening date will be 3 week’s time on Sat. 22nd March at the 7.00 pm Mass which is Palm Sunday.

Liturgy Meeting this Mon. at 8 pm in The Presbytery to plan our Easter Ceremonies.

Banagher Review:  A meeting will take place this Thurs. 7th March at 8.00 pm in the Presbytery.  The purpose of this meeting is to plan for this year’s “Review”.  If you would like to be part of this team you will be very welcome.

St Patrick’s Day Parade – Sunday 17th March, 2013 at 3.00 pm.  As Part of Gathering, please let committee know if you have family returning from abroad for festivities. Please decorate homes and businesses to add to occasion. Please support by taking part, it’s the life of the Parade.

Scout Fundraiser – Saturday 16th of March:  Banagher Scouts are hosting a Cake, Book & DVD Sale in the Scout Den (at the Old Convent Grounds) on Saturday the 16th of March from 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm. Any contributions to the Cake Sale can be left into the Scout Den between 10.00 am and 1.00pm on the day of the event.  Please come along and enjoy the event while supporting your local Scout Group. Teas, Coffees & Crepes available on the day.

Wanted-suitable spare plants and surplus timber decking:  Hello gardeners! Have you any spare evergreen plants/shrubs in your garden? Banagher Tidy Towns are busy planting up new areas to make our town more attractive. Shade tolerant plants such as ferns, mahonia, hostas and periwinkles(vincas) would be particularly suitable. If you have a surplus of this category and wish to donate please call Therese on 086 8650133. Also we are looking for suitable unwanted timber to help make up planter boxes for varies locations. Spare lengths of decking would be ideal but other similar timbers may also suit. Text 087 6269645 to arrange collection. Eucharistic Adoration Regional Gathering  in Ferbane Church on Sun. 3rd March at 3 pm for those involved in Eucharistic Adoration. This is part of the new diocesan structure that wants to support adorers in there ministry. The event will involve a time of Adoration in the Church and a brief gathering afterwards to appoint representatives from parishes and this region to liaise with the diocesan committee. Paving Bricks & Paving Slabs Workshop:  As part of the Aontas Adult Learners’ Festival, Co. Offaly VEC will run a Paving Bricks and Paving Slabs Workshop on Tues. 26th Feb. in St. Rynagh’s College of Further Education, Banagher, from 10.00 am -1.00 pm  This is a free workshop and open to all. The Pioneer Total Abstinence Association suggests that people might consider taking a short-term pledge to abstain from alcohol during Lent.  During this time they could pause to think about their own relationship with alcohol. They could offer their sacrifice for a friend or relative whom they love who has a problem with alcohol or with other drugs.

Parish Tax Forms  will be sent out during the week to Parishioners who have donated a total of €250 or more in the year 2012.  This money will help with the Restoration and Renovation of the Church. The money comes directly to the parish and costs you nothing!  If you are a PAYE worker/earner and would like to help the parish please return outstanding forms to The Presbytery as soon as possible.

Tidy Towns meeting next Thursday at 8.00 pm in Crank House. All existing members including sub. groups set up before Christmas are requested to attend. New members are also welcome.

Apostolate of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration First Annual Pilgrimage to Knock:  Celebrating the Year of Faith at Knock Shrine on Sat. 20th April 10.00 am  to 5.00 pm there will be Talks, Adoration, Confessions, Eucharistic Procession, Workshops, Rosary, Mass, Benediction, Blessing of the Sick, Children’s Adoration.  All welcome.
