Baptisms: We welcome into the Christian Community Emily Staunton, Esker and Rosie Corrigan, Corner House, Banagher who were baptised recently.

Church Restoration Update:  The marble we discovered on the sanctuary has been cleaned and looks well, so we will be using it in the new sanctuary area.  At the moment the new sound system is being installed.  Over the coming weeks work will be carried out on the new sanctuary area as well as the lighting system and the walls.

Christmas Mass Times: Christmas Eve Vigil 11 p.m.  Christmas morning 10.30 a.m.  There is a change for this year’s Mass times to accommodate the large crowds who will attend Masses.  We have moved the Masses to the Sports Hall in the new Secondary School – Coláiste na Sionna for these Masses only.  The Hall in the Primary School would be far too small and we would have had to have at least 3 Masses Christmas morning.  More details later.

Christmas Carol Service:   On Sun. 23rd Dec. the Parish will hold its annual Carol Service at 6 p.m.  Since the Church is closed the Carol Service will be held in the grounds of the Church.  Refreshments served on the day.  All welcome.

Congratulations to St. Rynagh’s School Choir who have been chosen to be played on the National airways by Lyric FM to be broadcast on RTE Lyric’s Choirs for Christmas Competition 2012.  This is a great honour as Lyric will only play the top entries to the competition on the air.   You can listen to Lyric on 96 -99 FM.  St. Rynagh’s N.S. and other entries in the RTE Lyric FM Choirs for Christmas Competition 2012 can be heard from Mon. 10th Dec. on Classical Daytime.  Full details including the times and dates of the broadcast will be posted on or

Banagher College Coláiste na Sionna, Transition Year Class present, Treasure Island the Pantomime produced by Mr. Jared Madden in the School Hall at 7.30 p.m. on Wed. 12th Dec. and Fri. 14th Dec.  Tickets at the door, adults €8 and children €4.  A great nights entertainment is promised, raffle each night sponsored by local traders.

Banagher Reading Challenge 2013:  Free your child’s card for The Banagher Reading Challenge.  Banagher Library will free the library cards of children attending St. Rynagh’s N.S. of any outstanding issues if you visit the library on 15th Dec. between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.  As a once off offer the library will accept replacement books for ‘lost’ books and accommodations will also be made with regard to any outstanding fines.

The Banagher Library will close with effect from 5 p.m. on Fri. 21st Dec. 2012  re-opening on Thur. 3rd Jan. 2013 at 2 p.m.   Closed on Fri. 4th & Sat. 5th Jan. Normal hours from Thur. 10th Jan. Wishing all our customers a very peaceful Christmas.

Shannon Harbour Community Assoc:   Carol Singing in Shannon Harbour on Sat. 15th Dec 5:30 & Santa will visit the children in the Community Hall on Sun. 16th Dec 5:30.

Chiropody Clinic will be attending Banagher Health Centre on Fri. 14th Dec. at 9 a.m. – 3.30 p.m. for the Senior Citizens footcare.

Banagher Pharmacy is hosting a Christmas Evening Wed. 12th Dec. from 5 – 7 p.m. Wine and festive nibbles on the night with lots of special offers!!   All welcome

St. Rynagh’s Ladies Football Club are having a Presentation Night on Sat. 5th Jan. 2012 in Dooley’s Hotel at 8 p.m.  Tickets €15 are available from Mary Kelly and Siobhan Doyle.

Banagher Snooker Club wishes to thank all those who contributed to their church gate collection last weekend. A total of €446.52 was collected, for which they are very grateful. All the money goes towards the maintenance and upkeep of the building.

Canal Film For Sale:  A DVD of the film recently shown on RTE “A Grand Experience” which shows the voyage of the 68m Canal Boat from Shannon Harbour to Edenderry are now on sale in McIntyre’s Shop, Shannon Harbour €13.

Banagher Foroige Club are holding a Christmas Food Collection in aid of St. Vincent de Paul (non-perishable food only).  The food can be brought to the Comm. Centre 8 – 9.30 p.m. on Thurs. 6th – 13th Dec.

Banagher Review 2012 is now on sale locally this weekend.  The 25th Edition contains 240 pages and 800 photos of events throughout the year.

Parish Christmas Cards:  This year the Parish will be selling Christmas Mass Bouquet Cards with the image of last year’s crib on the front.  All those who receive a card will be included in the Masses over the Christmas Season.  Cards will be on sale after Masses and in some shops €1.50.  A great gift for family & friends.
