The Mercy Icon begins its visits to the homes of the parish this Sun. 6th Nov.  The host family can collect the Icon from the Church on Sun. and return it for the following Sun. morning for the next family.  For the 7 days families are invited to pray the prayers on the Icon.   If you wish to receive the Icon you can place your family name on the sheet in the Church.  Nov. 6th – 13th Windsor McGlynn & Kennedy Families, Nov. 13th – 20th Kelleher & Madden Families, Nov. 20th – 27th Quirke Family and Nov. 27th – 4th Dec. Hynes Family.

 

Pastoral Letter from Bishop Francis to be read at all Masses in the Diocese, copies of which are available in the Church.  The letter concerns two new roles in the parishes which we hope to introduce in the parishes of our Diocese.

Christmas Eve Mass Survey:   To help gauge the views of church goers on what time to have our Christmas Eve Mass a quick survey will be held at this weekend’s Masses.

 

Collection Envelopes for the coming Year are now ready for delivery.  Once again we are asking the help of members of the parish to deliver them.  If you can help please collect boxes in the Sacristy.  Thanks for your help.

 

November in The Church:  November is the month when we call to mind and pray for all our deceased family and friends.  A book of remembrance will be in the Church for you to write the name of your deceased, who will be remembered in all the Masses in Nov.

  1. 30 a.m. Morning Prayer continues each morning. The month of November will remember in a special way all our deceased family members.

Coffee Morning in aid of Crumlin Children’s Hospital next Wed. 9th Nov. in Eliza Lodge, Nursing Home at 3 p.m.  All welcome.

Thanks to all who helped make the annual fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness such a successful event.   €3200 was raised this year at Corrigan’s on Fri 21st October.

Banagher Tidy Towns Annual Church Gate Collection will take place this weekend 5th & 6th  Nov. at both masses.   Your support is much appreciated.

The Committee of Banagher, Cloghan & Lusmagh Branch of Offaly Hospice acknowledges with grateful appreciation the receipt of the very generous donation of €800 from Banagher Active Retirement Club, proceeds from “Dance for your Hospice” fundraiser.  Sincere thanks to all concerned for your support for this worthy cause.

Changes to Banagher Library opening hours for November are: Closed. – Sat. 12th Nov.   Regular staffed opening hours will apply for Nov., which are: Tuesday 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. & 2 p.m. – 5 p.m., Thurs.  2 p.m. – 5 p.m. & 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Ferbane/Banagher Macra Club – Meeting on Sunday 6th Nov. at 6 p.m. in Cloghan Hall. New members are always welcome.

West Offaly Comhaltas AGM is on Tues. 8th Nov. 2016 in the Crank House, Banagher at 8 p.m. New members always welcome   If you are interested please come along on the night.

Team Hope Christmas Shoe Box Appeal:  Boxes can be left into Banagher Cleaners.  Thanks to all the people who have left in their shoe boxes already.   Time is running out.

Recent Publication: Copies of “Dan Edwards – the Life and Times of a Craftsman and Artist” by well-known local historian Declan Ryan are now available in Feeney’s Newsagent, Main Street.  Cost €20.
