Thank You:  Ann Gallagher would like to say a big thank you to all who so generously sponsored her participation in the Women’s Mini Marathon.  The Peter McVerry Trust has acknowledged the monies raised which amounted to €1,079 and which far exceeded Ann’s expectation when undertaking this fundraising event.  The services of the Trust are crucial in helping some of Ireland’s most vulnerable young people to break the cycle of homelessness, enabling them to move towards independent living and full integration into society and this is made possible in no small way by the generosity of people who

Year of Mercy Pilgrimage:  This Thurs. the 2nd of our 7 Thurs. Pilgrimages will be in Banagher.  This week’s theme is to Educate the Young, ”The 2nd Corporal Work of Mercy”.  The prayer service will take place in the St. Rynagh’s National School at 7.30 p.m.  We make a special invitation to parents and children to join us.

Thank You:  On behalf of the committee we would like to thank the people of Banagher and the surrounding area for their huge support in our walk for darkness into light we would like to thank everyone who helped in any way.   The amount raised  €16,615. That beats Banagher !!

A Church gate Collection for Sionn Mhara / SAC will be held this weekend. Our local Rowing / Sailing / Sub Aqua club would really appreciate any donations. Rowing & Sailing from the  Swimming Pool each Tues. & Thurs. at 7 p.m. For enquiries, please call or text 087-2537775.

Youth 2000 Summer Festival, Cistercian College, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary from Thursday 7th – Sunday 10th July 2016. For young people aged 16-35, an opportunity not to be missed to experience the Catholic faith and meet many new people, with over 1000 young people from all corners of Ireland attending last year. Aidan’s Art Academy: Learn exciting new skills, fun and hands on activities, create unique artworks, design your own hand-printed T-shirt.  Ages 6 – 12 years.  Week 1 Belmont Mill 4th to  8th July, Week 2  Ballinahown 11th to 15th July, Week 3 Ferbane 18th to 22nd and Week 4 Banagher 25th to 29th July.  Cost €65.   Family discounts available.  Mon.

Computer Summer Camps – West Offaly training.  Children on these camps will use computers for educational, research and fun purposes.  Liquid refreshments, course manual and certificate of participation will be provided.  Cost €25.   Dates:  5th – 8th July, 26th – 29th July and 9th -12th Aug.  Beginners 9.30 – 12.30 p.m. Tues. to Fri., Intermediate 2 – 4.45 p.m. Tues. to Fri.  For more details contact West Offaly Training at 057 9152003

The Tidy Towns group will be monitoring the town over the summer and will award the best kept estate, best kept commercial premises and best kept private dwelling with prizes.   Winners will be announced in August.

Lough Derg is a place of welcome where no one is judged and everyone is equal.  You can begin your three Day Pilgrimage on any day until 13th August.  No need to book. Daily boats to the Island from 10.30 a.m. until 3 p.m. 7 days a week until 13th August. Regular pilgrimages throughout the season country wide.
