Cemetery Development Committee: The two year term of the present Dev. Comm. Is now up and some of the members will be retiring from their post. The following members will be leaving Hubert Rigney, Mary Hynes, Ger Woods, Padraic Horan & David Hughes. Damian Keenaghan, Michael Dolan & Fr.Pierre will remain. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the committee for their hard work and dedication in transforming our cemetery into the fitting resting place it is today for all our deceased. S.V.D.P. Coffee/Tea Day: The Active Retirement Group and the Ladies Club will host a Coffee/Tea Day in aid of Banagher S.V.D.P in The Presbytery from 11.30 – 4 p.m. this Wed. 30th Nov. The event will include a cake sale and raffle. All are very welcome.
National S.V.D.P. Collection will take place on Sat./Sun. 10th/11th Dec.

St. Rynagh’s Parish Christmas Mass Cards are now on sale in Super Valu and Flynn’s shops. All those who receive a card will be included in the Masses in the parish over the Christmas Season. Each card costs €1.50. They are also on sale after every Mass.

Safeguarding Message from Bishop Francis, 2016: Advent is a time of preparation for Christmas; it has a special atmosphere of expectation and of looking forward to the events of Bethlehem. During this season many children will participate in nativity plays, carol services and liturgies. I hope they have a very happy and joyful time with their families and friends.
I thank our Parish Safeguarding Representatives and our Priests for their very important work in ensuring the safety of children and vulnerable adults in our Church related activities. Their vigilance gives reassurance to all. I encourage anyone with concerns regarding the safety of children or anyone who suffered in the past to contact our Designated Persons: Sean Leydon (087-7431649) or Róisín O’Doherty (087-3327587).
Banagher Active Retirement Club: The next club meeting is on Tues. 29th Nov. 2 – 4.30 p.m. This is the last meeting before Christmas. Looking forward to seeing you then. * The Young at Heart – dinner & cabaret in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel, Athlone is on Tues. 6th Dec.

Banagher Ladies Club will have their Christmas night out in Hennessy’s, Ferbane on 2nd Dec. at 8 p.m.   A mini bus will be available. Please contact committee members if you want to book a seat on the bus. The cost is €25.

 

The Banagher Branch of the Irish Red Cross would like to invite members of the public who have an interest in learning First Aid to contact us and see what we’re about.  Red Cross volunteers range from Frist Aiders to EMTs and provide medical cover at many local and national events as well as knowing what to do in an emergency in the family or wider community.  If interested please contact Gary on 087 2873157 or email gjkeenaghan:@gmail.com for more details.

Feast Day of St. Rynagh: Mon. 21st Nov. is the Feast of St. Rynagh, Patron Saint of our Parish.  A special Mass in her honour will be said on Mon. at 7 p.m.  We invite you to join us in this Mass of thanksgiving and petition.

Banagher College Coláiste na Sionna are hosting a Talk on Cyber Bullying, Sexting and Internet Safety for Parents, in the school on Tues. next 15th Nov. 2016 at 7.30 p.m. The Talk is being delivered by Jeremy Pagden of Schools Websites. Jeremy has been travelling all over the country delivering Internet Safety talks to both parents and children alike. This talk will help parents to get a grasp of things that their children are experiencing on line.

The Christmas Lights Committee is holding a Public Meeting next Wed. 16th Nov. at 8.30 p.m. in The Snug in Corrigan’s.  This meeting will determine whether the town will be lit up this year or not. EVERYONE welcome.  Please spread the word.

Banagher District Cardiac Response Group wish to thank C.G.H. Pharmacy for their donation of €1,070.78 proceeds from their “Give for Good Campaign”.  This money will be used to maintain the service in the area.

Pastoral Letter from Bishop Francis to be read at all Masses in the Diocese, copies of which are available in the Church.  The letter concerns two new roles in the parishes which we hope to introduce in the parishes of our Diocese.

Christmas Eve Mass Survey:   To help gauge the views of church goers on what time to have our Christmas Eve Mass a quick survey will be held at this weekend’s Masses.
