Croghan Hill Challenge 21st May:  Calling everyone who is up for a fun challenge.  All proceeds go directly to Irish Children’s Arthritis Network which is a 100% Voluntary and no one takes a salary from it. Pope Francis’ Special Appeal for Humanitarian Aid for Ukraine: Pope Francis recently called for a special collection which will be held in St. Rynagh’s Church the weekend 7/8th May to help alleviate the suffering of those affected by the continuing armed conflict in Ukraine.  The Holy Father stated that the collection was a “gesture of charity, one that apart from alleviating material suffering, shows my personal closeness as well as that of the entire Church” to the people of Ukraine.

The Darkness into Light 5km Walk/Run will take place in Banagher this year on Sat. 7th May in aid of Pieta House, the centre for the preventions of suicide and self-harm.   The event will begin at 4.15 a.m. from Banagher College and participants will cross the line as dawn is breaking.  You can register online now.

Archbishop Eamon Martin will lead a Christian solidarity pilgrimage to the Holy Land from September 9-17, 2016, on a direct flight from Dublin. It will be an opportunity to visit holy sites and walk in the footsteps of Jesus in Bethlehem, Nazareth,

New Radio Broadcast System:  By next week we hope to have our new Mass Broadcast System up and running.  With this new system you can listen to all Church Services on any radio, at home, in the car and on the web.   We will publish the frequency you can get the Mass on once the system is installed.  The quality will be much clearer and audible.

Gerry McCabe and his family welcome you to a night of celebration in recognition of the support and friendship shown to them throughout Gerry’s determined journey to walk again.   Come along and enjoy a little food, chat and music and see Gerry walk on the night in his new Ekso Bionic Suit in Cloghan Hall on Sat. 23rd April at 8.45 p.m.

Life in the Spirit Seminars starting in Tullamore Church of the Assumption at 7.30 p.m. on Wed. 20th April 2016. They will be running for the following 6 Wed. and will have some great speakers such as Eddie Stones, Fr. Thady Doyle and Fr. John Keane.

Tracey Tinney is raising funds for Cross Cause – Irish Charity, which supports orphans with special needs in Romania. There will be a Church Gate Collection this weekend 16/17 April.  Your support would be very much appreciated.

Charlotte Bronte 200 Celebrations: As part of the second That Beats Banagher Festival an evening to celebrate Charlotte Bronte’s 200th birthday will be held on Thurs. 21st April. The evening commences at 7 p.m. with “’A Miscellany for Charlotte”’ in St. Paul’s Church. This will be a selection of readings, music and song related to the great novelist and her husband Arthur Bell Nicholls of Banagher.  Immediately afterwards
“Charlotte’s Birthday Celebrations” will be held on the grounds of Charlotte’s Way, (formerly Hill House).  Admission to this event is strictly limited and by ticket only. Tickets are free. Bookings can be made online at www.thatbeatsbanagher.com or by calling

Thank You the family of Micheál Camon would like to thank sincerely all those who helped out, sponsored and kindly donated money in the recent benefit night for Micheál. The night was an overwhelming success and we greatly appreciate all the help we received which made it such a success. All proceeds from the fund will go towards Micheál’s ongoing recovery process.

Banagher Active Retirement Club: The next club meeting is on Tues. 12th April 2-4.30 p.m. The club are holding their Annual Uganda Ireland Fundraising tea/coffee afternoon on Friday 15th  April  2-4 p.m.  All money raised goes towards Ester’s care in the Open Door Orphanage in Kampala.  Continued support provides Ester with a safe environment, food, medication and basic needs through Ann Flannery Comerford.

Sisters of the Rising which will be performed at Birr Theatre and Arts Centre as part of their 1916 Centenary programme on Sat. April 16th at 8 p.m. Sisters of the Rising is the first play written by Offaly playwright Christiane O’Mahony.

The ‘Check it Fits’ Service is a full-time, nationwide, free expert service which aims to put parents, grandparents and guardians minds at ease that their child’s car seat is safely and securely fitted in their car. The service is quick, it’s easy, it’s free and will be in The Bridge Centre, Bridge Street, Tullamore on Tues. 5th April 10 to 5.30 p.m. and in O’Connell Square Carpark, Edenderry on Wed. 6th April 10 to 5.30 p.m. where our experts will advise on how to fix any problem, demonstrate how to fit the restraint correctly and answer any queries participants might have.

Banagher Craft Group: Due to the success of the last craft course we are continuing classes for another four weeks in the Crank House on Tue.5th April from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. All welcome even beginners.

The Darkness into Light 5km Walk/Run will take place in Banagher this year on Sat. 7th May in aid of Pieta House, the centre for the preventions of suicide and self-harm.
