Year of Mercy:  As part of Pope Francis – Year of Mercy, which he asks the Church to reflect on the mercy of God and on our call to be merciful, he has asked all parishes to make Fri. 3rd March a special day for Confession.  Here in Banagher Confessions will begin with Mass at 7 p.m. followed by a Holy Hour.  The theme of the celebration will be “Merciful like the Father”.   Fr. Aidan Ryan will celebrate Mass after which there will be a Holy Hour and he will be available for Confessions for those who wish to avail of it.

General Election:  Next Friday we as a nation will make important decisions about those who will lead our country.  In this Centenary of the1916 Rising it is good to reflect on the freedom we enjoy, the right to vote being one of the most important.  We have all heard many arguments from all parties & independents seeking your vote.  We all have a civic duty to play our part in setting the agenda for the direction of our country for the coming year.  To the fore in people’s minds have been the economy and how best to continue the progress made so that all members of society can feel the benefits, but we are not simply an economy we are more, we are communities, individuals.  We are a people who respect all.  In deciding who we vote for we should ask ourselves many questions – what value we put on “All Human Life” at all stages is a very important one:  we have a proud tradition of caring for and valuing all life at all stages, how can we ensure this fundamental constitutional right will be preserved.  We should pray for our Politicians who have a moral duty to serve the citizens of this nation.  We should all make sure to vote on Friday and make our voices heard.
