Banagher Christmas Lights Committee are holding a Church Gate Coll. this weekend.  All support big or small is greatly appreciated.   Let’s bring our beautiful town of Banagher alive with light for Christmas.

Banagher United are currently taking bookings for their magnificent new Astro Turf Pitch. The club welcome any enquiries from all groups who would like to use the pitch for social and training purposes. For further information please contact 087 6213611.

Banagher & Garbally Wind Info. Group are hosting a Table Quiz on Fri. 20th Nov. at 9.30 p.m. in Corrigan’s Bar.  €40 per table of four.  Lots of prizes.  Please show your support to protect the rural community of Banagher.

Nov. 15th World Day of Remembrance For Road Traffic Victims 2015:  We remember not only the people who have died on our roads, but we also encourage people to consider the other preventable tragedies that will happen before the end of the year.  This year we have already 127 lives lost on our roads.  That is 127 families and communities who are devastated by a loss this year in counties all over Ireland.  World Day of Remembrance is a stark reminder to us all to consider what we can do to help prevent more loss of life on our roads this year.

Cluster Altar Swap:  Priests of the Cluster will be moving Churches this weekend.  We

Mass of Remembrance for our Dead will be offered this Friday 13th Nov. at 7.30 p.m.  All are invited to come and pray for our departed family and friends.

A book of the dead is in the Church for all who wish to have their dead remembered during the month of November.

Recent Trip to Haworth in York:  Congratulations to all fourteen people who travelled to Haworth in Yorkshire recently to foster stronger links between Banagher and the home of the famous Bronte writers.  Charlotte Bronte (1816 – 1854) married Arthur Bell Nicholls of Banagher in 1853 and visited here during their honeymoon. Arthur spent twenty years living in Cuba Court and forty-five years in Hill House, now called Charlotte’s Way, a successful B & B run by Ms.

Nicola Daly. Charlotte’s bicentenary and Arthur’s life with her and the Bronte family will be celebrated in April 2016.

Banagher College are hosting a “College & Career Exhibition” on Tues. 10th Nov. at 7 p.m. In attendance on the night will be Laois Offaly & Longford & Westmeath Education Training Boards, Universities, IT’s, Agricultural Colleges, PLC colleges, Apprenticeship Representatives, Adult Education, HEAR & DARE representatives, Financial advice from Bank of Ireland and Banagher Credit Union and local employers plus guest speakers talking about the transition to third level, the grant application process and IT and careers. Free admittance.   All welcome.

Junior Knitting Club:  is looking for new members. Drop into the library next Saturday morning at 10.30 a.m. to sign up for free knitting classes!

Acknowledgement:  The Ryland & Mulligan family wish to thank most sincerely all who sympathised with them in their recent sad loss, those who attended the funeral and sent Mass cards.  The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.

Funding Information Evening for Community & Voluntary Groups:  Tues 10th Nov. will be the biggest event for the community sector in Offaly, when the Public Participation Network meets in the Bridge House Hotel at 7.30 p.m. This event will be of great interest to anyone who wants to know more about funding opportunities for community groups with 6 different speakers there will be something to interest everyone.   RSVP essential to Offaly PPN at Offaly County Council on 057 93 57401 or email community@offalycoco.ie

Harvest Fair  in aid of St. Cronan’s National School, Lusmagh, will take place in Lusmagh National School on Sat. night, November 21st after 7 p.m. Mass. There will be a wide variety of cakes, buns, home baking, plants, fruit and vegetables on sale. Your support would be very much appreciated.

Clonfert Christmas Bazaar will be held in the Comm. Centre on Sun. 22nd Nov. starting at

5 p.m.  Lots of prizes and a large hamper to be won.  All are welcome.  Please support.
