Candlemas Day: On Mon. 2nd Feb. candles will be blessed for use in homes and in the Parish.  If you wish to have candles blessed you can leave them on the table in the Church during the week.

Feast of St. Blaise on Tues. 3rd Feb.  Blessing of Throats will take place at 9.30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Mass on the Tues.

Liturgy Meeting this Wednesday 28th  Jan. at 9 p.m. in The Presbytery.

Time of Silence and Prayer:  Each Wed. evening from 8.30 p.m. to 9 p.m., a short time of silence and prayer takes place in the Church.  This is a wonderful way to close the activities of the day.   All are welcome.

Cluster Trip to Restored St. Mel’s Cathedral:  On Sunday 15th Feb. buses will leave all the Parishes arriving in Longford at 3.30 p.m., for a guided tour of St. Mel’s Restored Cathedral.  If you are interested in seeing the newly restored Cathedral please give your names to Fr. Pierre.

Country and Western Dance Classes in Dooley’s Hotel Birr on Tuesdays at 8.30 to 10.30 p.m.   Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Jive.    All Welcome.  No partner needed.

Country Jamboree Night in Cloghan Hall on Fri. 30th Jan. at 9.30 p.m. Performing:  Jason Travers Band, Blue Ridge Country and special guest Ciaran Rosney.  Finger food, BYOB, doors open at 9 p.m.  In aid of Lumcloon N.S.  Adm. €10

Banagher St. Patrick’s Day Parade:   Banagher’s 7th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Sun. 15th of March at 3 p.m. Please come out and support this celebration of our National Day. The committee would like to encourage as many local entries in the parade as possible, so please get your thinking caps on and get involved.   A fund raising Table Quiz will be held on Friday night the 13th February in Corrigan’s Bar, please come along and support.

Banagher College Coláiste na Sionna  –  OPEN NIGHT for sixth class students and their parents/guardians takes place on Thursday, 29th January commencing at 7.30 p.m.

Cloghan & District Boxing Club will be hosting the Offaly County Boxing Championships on Sat. 31st Jan. & Sun. 1st Feb in their Club Premises at Quigley’s Hall, Banagher.  This should be a good weekend of competitive Boxing from all Clubs competing.  All are welcome to come along to give their support.

Active Retirement Group:  New Year’s Party this Tues. 27th.  The bus will leave the Library Car Park at 6 p.m. sharp.

Banagher Youth Theatre needs you!    Banagher Youth Theatre are looking for young people aged between 12 to 18 yrs. of age to take part in their forthcoming production in March. If you are interested in drama, acting, meeting new friends and having fun why not join BYT this term. West Offaly CCE session next Sun. in Crank House 5-7 p.m.  (beginners 5-6, intermediate/advanced 6-7).   All singers musicians are welcome.

Banagher Junior Knitting Club has recommenced, meeting on Saturdays in Banagher Library 10.30 – 11.30 a.m. All are welcome.  Please make sure a parent/adult attends to sign your child in.

Church Gate Collection for Cystic Fibrosis next weekend January 31st  and February 1st. Your support would be much appreciated.

Invitation:  Offaly Hospice Annual Public Meeting will be held on Tues. 3rd Feb. at 8 p.m. in The Goodbody Suite of the Tullamore Court Hotel. This is an open invitation to everyone, most of you at some time have donated money to Offaly Hospice, you may have helped us fundraise or sadly you may have had cause to use the service, so come along and hear how the money raised by Offaly Hospice is used to benefit the palliative care services in Offaly.
