St. Rynagh’s Day: Monday 24th Nov. is the Feast of St. Rynagh.  The children from the Primary School will attend Mass that morning 9.30 a.m.   There will be Mass at 7 p.m. with a special focus on voluntary groups in the community.  All welcome.

A New Children’s Choir has been formed in our Parish.  We wish them all the best.

This weekend the Priests of the Cluster will change Churches.  There will be no Catechism for the Communion Children this weekend.

Banagher Parish Christmas Mass Bouquet Cards are now on sale in local shops at €2.

Banagher Graveyard:  All works planned for this year have now been completed new path, grass cutting contract, gates, hedge trimming.  A sincere word of thanks to all who supported this project.  We are now planning the works to be carried out next year.  These works will make our graveyard a fitting place of rest for all our departed.

St. Vincent de Paul:  The Annual National Collection for S.V.D.P. takes place on the weekend 6/7th Dec.  A Church Gate Coll. will take place that weekend.  Banagher S.V.D.P. spent €10,000 over the past 12 months.  Your support is sought to help us continue this work.

Senior Ladies Football Presentation takes place on Sat. 29th Nov. at 8 p.m. sharp in the Brosna Lodge.

Offertory & Restoration Envelopes for the coming year are ready for delivery.  If you can help deliver boxes for your area please call to the Sacristy after any Mass this weekend.  If you do not get an envelope box and wish to receive one contact Fr. Pierre.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generous support of the Parish.

Banagher Pharmacy hold their Annual Christmas Event on Fri. 28th Nov. Fantastic discounts and bargains to be had on all your Christmas gifts!  Refreshments will be served on the day. Open 10 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Banagher Active Retirement:  Next meeting of the club is on Tues. 25th Nov.  Guest Speaker on the day. Remaining Money due now for trip to June Rodgers

Shannonside Sub Aqua Club:  This year’s A.G.M. takes place on the 28th of Nov. at 7.30 p.m. in the clubhouse. It’s very important that all members attend.  Table Quiz:  Our Annual Table Quiz takes place in Corrigan’s Bar on the Fri. 5th Dec. A table of four is €40 with spot prizes and raffle on the night. We would appeal to all members to fill a table and invite their friends and work colleagues to come along.

Light up Banagher for Christmas! Donations can be left in the boxes in the Post Office or Super Valu.  Any donation, no matter how small is greatly appreciated.

Honey Days for Down Syndrome Ireland raised €669.15 last Friday.  We wish to thank the community very much for such gracious generosity.

Junior Knitting Club has resumed after the Halloween break in Banagher Library on Sat.  mornings at 10.30 – 11.30 a.m. All are welcome.  A parent/adult must attend to sign your child in.

Banagher & Garbally Wind Info. Group:  We ask that people come to Super Valu, Banagher on Sat. 22nd Nov. to sign our Petition against the proposed Wind Farm in Banagher so close to our homes.  We will be there from 10 – 2 and 2.30 – 5.30 p.m.  There will also be a silent protest at 7 p.m. on Thurs. 27th Nov. outside Dooley’s Hotel.

Banagher Fundraiser 2014 in aid of Sosad (save our sons and daughters). Suicide prevention and bereavement centre that provides free counselling and support.  Much needed facility in this day and age.  Event being held in The Brosna Lodge Hotel on Sun. 14th Dec. 2 p.m.- late.   Adm. CU-FACTOR:  Congratulations to Michaela Keenaghan who came 3rd in the All-Ireland Talent Show last weekend.  It was a wonderful achievement for Michaela as the competition was of a very high standard.   Banagher Credit Union is delighted to have promoted the competition and maybe next year even more of our young people will take part.

Offaly Mental Health Week:  St. Rynagh’s Camogie Club, Banagher College Coláiste na Sionna and St. Rynagh’s Hurling Club in conjunction with Offaly Mental Health Week are hosting a talk by Conor Cusack in Banagher College Coláiste na Sionna on Fri. 21st Nov. at 7.30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets €5 each can be purchased by phoning 087 1894778.

Banagher Beavers Group are holding a Clothes Recycling Fundraiser  on Sat 15th Nov. in the Scouts Hall from 12  – 2.30 p.m., so please if you have any old clothes lying around, bag them up and drop them in.   Clothes can be dropped into the hall during Scouts meeting Tues 7.30 – 9 p.m., Beavers meeting Wed. 6-7 p.m. or Cubs meeting Thurs. 7 – 8.30 p.m. during the coming week. Talk: From Clara Bog to the International Space Station:  As part of National Science Week Clara scientist, Michelle McKeon Bennett, will deliver a lively talk about her research into the growth of bog plants in space-like conditions. The research is to help make Astronauts more self-sufficient on future space missions. The talk is being held at the Clara Bog Visitor Centre on Wed. 12th Nov. at 7 p.m. There is no charge for the event but please let staff know of your intention to attend so we can cater for numbers. Hairdressing for Beginners:  Laois Offaly ETB will run a QQI/FETAC level 3  Hairdressing course in St. Rynagh’s College of Further Education, Banagher. This course will commence on Mon. 17th Nov. and will run every Mon. morning from 10 – 12 noon for 14 weeks. Fee is €30.
