Inter-Parish Family Picnic & Fun Day on Sun. 31st Aug. in Ferbane G.A.A. Pitch.  Families are invited to bring a picnic to be eaten on the day.  The day will include live music, bumper football, Water Zorbing, Jousting, Tug of War, Kids Treasure Hunt, 3 legged race and much more, so come along and mark the end of the summer. There is no fee, everything is free.

Used Stamps for the Missions:  Your used postage stamps can help the missions in Africa. Just leave a half-inch margin around each stamp and send them to St. Patrick’s, Kiltegan, Co. Wicklow. There, retired missionaries sort the stamps and prepare them for sale to stamp collectors.

Banagher Cemetery Update:  A sincere word of thanks to all those who have supported the collection, amount collected will be published later.  The following decisions have been taken regarding works to be carried out.  The contract for the cutting of the grass and weeding has been awarded.  The gates are to be removed and cleaned.  The cross is to be sand blasted.  We plan to concrete the main pathway (this is dependent on Co. Council).  We hope to install security cameras and signs to deter dumping.  The hedges will be cut and shaped.  We will continue to inform people as we proceed.

Banagher Drama Group – Meeting in Banagher College of Further Education at 9 p.m. on Wed. 27th August in relation to our next production.  New members are always welcome.

Banagher Traditional Skills Festival (22nd to 24th Aug.)  A celebration of traditional skills and heritage takes place in Banagher over three days.   Crank House and the town will play host to a series of workshops, demonstrations and other interesting events.  The workshops will include such skills as Pottery, Dry Stone Walling, Willow Weaving, Batik and Felting.  Many of the workshops will have both adult and child suitable sessions.  For further info.  of events and workshops www.traditionalskills.ie or by contacting Aileen Duffy 087 9430489 aileen@traditionalskills.ie    Details also on posters around the town.

Shannon Bank Park collection raised €294.80.   Thank you and enjoy the refurbished park.  If you missed the collection and would like to make a contribution you can give it to any of the trustees or hand it into the Tourist Office.

Appeal for Stamps: A missionary nun is looking for stamps from any country for a boy with special needs who loves to collect them. Please deliver the stamps to Aideen Madden, Harbour Rd.

Banagher Utd recently held a very successful Soccer Camp for underage players for both boys and girls. The club would like to thank the time given by the external coaches in making the camp such a success. We would also like to thank the many parents for their help and the participation of the large number of boys and girls who were present on the day. Also special thanks to the hard work done by the organisers Francis and Rachel Healy along with Trevor Moylan.
