Parish Mission:  A Parish Mission will take place in Cloghan/Banagher from 9th to 24th Nov.  The Mission is being led by the Priests’ and members’ of the Ceile Community.

Br. Brian Johnson:  To mark the Golden Jubilee of the profession of Br. Brian a special Mass of Thanksgiving will take place at the Sat. evening Mass on 28th Sept. at 7 p.m.  A Parish reception will take place after Mass in the Primary School Hall.  All are welcome.

Cathedral Open Day:  The Restoration of St. Mel’s Cathedral is progressing very well.
An Open Day will be held on Sun. 29th Sept. when you are welcome to come and view the progress for yourselves. The Cathedral will open from 1.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. and this event is free of charge.

St. Rynagh’s Ladies Football Club:  Congratulations to the Senior Girls on winning the Senior County Title last weekend. *  Best of luck to the Offaly Junior Girls who are in the All Ireland on the 29th Sept., especially to the eight  Rynagh’s girls.    * Anyone interested in Ladies All-Ireland Final tickets contact Mary 087 7692477.

How to garden for wildlife:   Horticulturalist Valerie Becks will give an interesting talk on how best to enhance wildlife in your garden on Thur. 26th Sept. at 7 p.m. in the library room of St. Rynagh’s National School. Winner and runner-up prizes for the Bee Friendly Banagher gardening competition will be presented first.

6th Offaly – Banagher / Lusmagh Scouts:  Scouts are resuming on Tues. 24th Sept. 7.30 to 9 p.m.  Scouts extend a warm welcome to all new members coming up from Beavers.

Banagher Tidy Towns News: Congratulations to everyone who was responsible for our increase of 6 points in The Tidy Towns Results, bringing our total to 277 and making an overall increase of 13 points over the past 2 years. The adjudicator has made the following comments:- I have known Banagher (as a visitor) for about 40 years and the town has never looked so good. Your Development Plan, now one year into its run, is impressive with its objectives clearly defined. This committee has set itself an enormous task and is approaching all the permutations with resolution and enthusiasm”.  Congratulations also to Birr who have increased their points to 275 points.   An A.G.M. will take place in the near future.

Baptisms:  We welcome into the Christian Community Sarah Ann Tanner, St. Helen’s Court and Robert Doorly, Milltown, who were baptised recently in St. Rynagh’s Church.
