Christmas Eve & Christmas Morning Mass Times: Both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Masses will be said in the Sports Hall in the new secondary school Coláiste na Sionna.  This is to cater for the large crowds who will attend.  Mass on Christmas Eve will be at 11 p.m. and Christmas morning 10.30 a.m.  Access to the Mass will be off Main St. and there will be limited parking in the school grounds, off Church St., for the elderly & disabled.  Stewards will direct traffic.

Parish Carol Service:   We invite the whole Parish community to join us for a Carol Service in the Church grounds this Sun. at 6 p.m.  Since the Church is closed the Carol Service will be held in the grounds of the Church.  Refreshments served on the night.  You will be welcome to join us as we pause and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.

Banagher Credit Union:  * The Car Draw will take place in the Town Centre on Christmas Eve at 12 noon.  * Christmas Opening Hours:  The office will be closed on Thurs. 27th and Fri. 28th Dec. and will reopen on Sat. 29th.  The Credit Union will be open for loan applications on Tues. 18th Dec. and after Christmas on Tues. 8th Jan.

Acknowledgements:  Gearóid O’Regan & family, Kylebeg, wish to thank most sincerely all those who sympathised with them on their recent sad loss of their father Jerry O’Regan.  Those who called to the house, travelled long distances to attend the removal, the Funeral Mass, sent Mass Cards and donated to the Palliative Care Unit of Kerry General Hospital.  As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions:   The family of the late Emily Horan, Curraghavarna thank the local community & surrounding areas for your warm expression of sympathy in their recent sad loss. Baptisms: We welcome into the Christian Community Emily Staunton, Esker and Rosie Corrigan, Corner House, Banagher who were baptised recently.

Church Restoration Update:  The marble we discovered on the sanctuary has been cleaned and looks well, so we will be using it in the new sanctuary area.  At the moment the new sound system is being installed.  Over the coming weeks work will be carried out on the new sanctuary area as well as the lighting system and the walls.

Christmas Mass Times: Christmas Eve Vigil 11 p.m.  Christmas morning 10.30 a.m.  There is a change for this year’s Mass times to accommodate the large crowds who will attend Masses.  We have moved the Masses to the Sports Hall in the new Secondary School – Coláiste na Sionna for these Masses only.  The Hall in the Primary School would be far too small and we would have had to have at least 3 Masses Christmas morning.  More details later.

Christmas Carol Service:   On Sun. 23rd Dec. the Parish will hold its annual Carol Service at 6 p.m.  Since the Church is closed the Carol Service will be held in the grounds of the Church.  Refreshments served on the day.  All welcome.

Congratulations to St. Rynagh’s School Choir who have been chosen to be played on the National airways by Lyric FM to be broadcast on RTE Lyric’s Choirs for Christmas Competition 2012.  This is a great honour as Lyric will only play the top entries to the competition on the air.   You can listen to Lyric on 96 -99 FM.  St. Rynagh’s N.S. and other entries in the RTE Lyric FM Choirs for Christmas Competition 2012 can be heard from Mon. 10th Dec. on Classical Daytime.  Full details including the times and dates of the broadcast will be posted on www.rte.ie/lyricfm/choirsforchristmas or www.strynaghs.ie

Banagher College Coláiste na Sionna, Transition Year Class present, Treasure Island the Pantomime produced by Mr. Jared Madden in the School Hall at 7.30 p.m. on Wed. 12th Dec. and Fri. 14th Dec.  Tickets at the door, adults €8 and children €4.  A great nights entertainment is promised, raffle each night sponsored by local traders.

Banagher Reading Challenge 2013:  Free your child’s card for The Banagher Reading Challenge.  Banagher Library will free the library cards of children attending St. Rynagh’s N.S. of any outstanding issues if you visit the library on 15th Dec. between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.  As a once off offer the library will accept replacement books for ‘lost’ books and accommodations will also be made with regard to any outstanding fines.

The Banagher Library will close with effect from 5 p.m. on Fri. 21st Dec. 2012  re-opening on Thur. 3rd Jan. 2013 at 2 p.m.   Closed on Fri. 4th & Sat. 5th Jan. Normal hours from Thur. 10th Jan. Wishing all our customers a very peaceful Christmas.

Lusmagh Foroige Club are holding a Food Collection for St. Vincent de Paul (non perishable foods only).  The food can be dropped to the Lusmagh Parish Hall from Mon. 3rd & 10th from 8 – 9 p.m.  Your support would be greatly appreciated.

West Offaly Bantry Bay Longboat Project:  Places are available on this project which is taking place in St. Rynagh’s College of Further Education on Mon. 9 – 4 p.m. and Tues. 9 – 1 p.m.  The project includes training in carpentry skills and the construction of a Bantry Bay Longboat under the direction of Dougal McMahon (Boat Builder, Belmont).  If interested contact P.
